PART 1: 5 PM Dinner (open)
I just dinned there a week ago with friends. There was a complete MOB. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we got seated after 8:30. This time I made our reservation when they open to get a head start on the crowd. Do not RSVP if you are unable to arrive promptly at 5 pm.

By popular request, come join us for our final encore at legendary TAIX Country French for their Cuisine Grand Mere “Tourte de Volaille” (French Style Chicken Pot Pie) available only on Thursdays or order from the full menu.

This is your final opportunity to dine at this old school iconic French Norman Revival Building. March 29th is their closing day. This beautiful restaurant will soon be razed to the ground. It’s absolutely heart breaking.

If you are uncertain you can commit at this time we highly encourage you check back before the event for openings. There’s always cancelations.

$5 RSVP PayPal, Venmo or Zelle (NOT if waitlisted) to reserve your spot. NOTE: Fee is NOT refundable and NOT eligible for re-sale. If you need to cancel immediately update to “not going”.

Payment contact provided upon RSVP made within 12-hours or immediate removal. This gives everyone a fair opportunity to join events and will expedite the turn around time to fill the event.

AT TIME OF PAYMENT INDICATE: TAIX

NOTIFICATIONS-ON ARE REQUIRED
It is YOUR responsibility to be aware if you were moved off the waitlist.

If you are originally from L.A. chances are you’ve been to or heard of Taix (the family pronunciation is Tex in French). This iconic L.A. restaurant founded in 1927, one of L.A.’s oldest surviving family owned restaurants, sadly will be saying adieu (farewell) after 99 years. I’m truly heartbroken! I’ve been coming here with my family since I was a kid.

PLEASE BRING CASH. THEY DO NOT ACCEPT SEPARATE CHECKS.

THE HISTORY OF TAIX
The Taix Family are the 3rd and 4th generations of a family of sheepherders and bakers from the "Hautes-Alpes" in southeastern France who immigrated to LA around 1870. In 1912 Marius Taix Sr. built a hotel called the Champ d'Or in DTLA. In 1927 his son opened Taix French restaurant within the hotel serving chicken dinners for .50 cents. The present location opened in 1962 and is still operated by the Taix family. Their novel food consisting of their famed tureen of soup, fresh French bread, and abundant portions of French country cuisine at affordable prices has made them a Los Angeles institution that will surely be missed.

THE FUTURE OF TAIX
Taix is slated for redevelopment: Holland Partner Group plans to replace the Taix building with a new six-story complex that would bring in 170 units of housing, including 24 that are affordable to “very low income” households, and house a smaller version of the longtime restaurant. Taix will operate in a much smaller revised capacity in the new complex.

VALET PARKING $8.50
Limited street parking on Sunset BLvd.

PART 2: After dinner
EL MORO CHURRERÍA desde 1935
See photo gallery for menu
Mexico City’s most famous churro shop since 1935 has arrived in L.A. Today, there are 18 locations in Mexico and, now, two in SoCal (Costa Mesa & Echo Park). The line in Echo Park on opening day on January 29th was over 3 hours long and wrapped all the way around the block. You might of seen it trending on FB & TikTok. I’ve had the ones at Moro’s in Mexico City several times. I can’t wait to try these! Hopefully the mad rush has calmed down by now.

In 1933, Francisco Iriarte emigrated from Elizondo, a picturesque town in the Baztán Valley, Spain, to Mexico City. Upon arriving, he noticed that churros weren't being sold, so he decided to set up a cart in the Zócalo to share this traditional treat with Mexicans, bringing a piece of his culture with him.
As a tribute to his homeland, he named his business "El Moro," in honor of a churro vendor from his hometown.

Over time, his churros conquered Mexico City. In 1935, during Mexico's Golden Age, Churrería El Moro opened its doors, becoming a meeting place that has welcomed both national and international figures as well as families from all over. In 1940, Francisco passed away, but his legacy continued with his brothers José, Santiago, and Ignacio, who traveled from Spain to keep the tradition alive. Since then, Churrería El Moro has remained a family business that, generation after generation, continues to be an emblematic place, a meeting point, and an icon of Mexico City.
