What we're about

Every time I go out to a meetup event I am totally surprised at how much fun we have. We laughed, saw new things, met wonderful people, had an amazing lunch and just had a spectacular day. We trekked one way streets, paid parking places, set off security alarms, ran through the rain and traffic. There was no a single part of the day that wasn't the best kind of experience.

This magical story takes place in Treegap, New Hampshire, where a young Winnie Foster, her mother Betsy and her grandmother, Nana, reside. Since her father’s death, Winnie’s life has been anything but exciting. She longs to go to the fair that is traveling through town. Faced with her mother’s objection, Winnie runs away to the woods. In the depth of the Treegap Wood, Winnie comes across Jesse Tuck, a seemingly young boy who she sees drinking from a spring. Jesse insists she not drink from the spring, and upon arrival of his mother Mae, and older brother Miles, the three of them kidnap Winnie and bring her back to their cabin in the woods to seek the advice of the boys’ father, Angus. The Tuck family reveals to Winnie that when they drank from the spring, time stopped for them. They all stopped aging and will never die. During the course of over a 100-year span, the Tuck family has stayed split up across the world, to avoid suspicion from the town locals. Every 10 years, they reunite in Treegap Wood. This year, something is different. The annual fair is in town, led by the mysterious Man in the Yellow Suit. Unbeknownst to the Tucks, he has been tracking their family for decades, in search of the key to eternal life. Meanwhile, Constable Joe and deputy-in-training Hugo are hot on the tracks of the missing girl and left uneasy by encounters with the Man in the Yellow Suit. What unfolds in Treegap Wood is nothing short of magical. See this new production at Art Factory Houston. I have to say, I love the Art Factory performances! Edgy, fun, and totally a surprise! This theater is nothing like your grandmother's theater! Every performance I have seen has been a memory maker. If you love different, loud, in your face, and just fun, fun, fun you have to experience the Art Factory.

This is where it all started, where Mama Ninfa first stuffed chargrilled sliced beef into a handmade flour tortilla and launched the national fajita craze. The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation… The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation was created by “Mama” Ninfa Laurenzo in 1973 after the death of her husband, John. She started by grilling skirt steak and serving it in tortillas from her family’s struggling tortilla factory. The resulting dish – “Tacos al Carbon” (which later became known as “Fajitas”) was the basis for Mama Ninfa’s legend in Houston and in the history of Tex-Mex cuisine. Mama Ninfa passed away in 2001, and in 2005, Legacy Restaurants purchased The Original Ninfa’s. In the ensuing years, Legacy and Executive Chef Alex Padilla have restored, updated, and improved The Original Ninfa’s. After more than 40 years in business, The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation is more popular than ever and still is serving “The Best Mexican Food in Texas Since Texas was in Mexico!™” TOUR EXPERIENCE The M/V Sam Houston has been operating as Port Houston’s public tour vessel since its inaugural voyage on July 30, 1958.
