What do you do with a drunken sailor when the world is underwater?
My name is Bird Howsley, and I'm a beautiful disaster. Or...maybe just a disaster, period. In a brutal dystopian waterworld where survival depends on the ocean, I've spent twenty years wondering why I don’t fit in. My sailing academy rivals are thriving, but I always seem to be one bad decision away from life going completely down the drain.
Even Sargo is getting impatient with me. He's my mentor—two years older, already a captain with his own boat, and everything I'm not: a strong sailor, level-headed, admired. And surly. Super surly. I suspect there's more going on behind that hot, confident mask than he lets on.
Did I say hot? I didn't mean hot. He's just a mentor. I definitely don't have sex dreams about him.
Anyway, two days ago, a mysterious message arrived...from the brother I thought was dead. He knows something about my past. Something that might explain why I don't belong in this world. I need to find him—but to do that, I'll have to cross a deadly ocean ravaged by storms, bloodthirsty pirates, and dark political secrets.
I definitely can't do it alone. I definitely need help...maybe from a hot captain who already has his own boat...
Bird will do anything to get answers about her past. Sargo is facing his own inner turmoil. Can they teach each other to survive in this world? Or will they be dragged into the abyss?
