Sunday Morning Hike at Lafayette Ridge (not Reservoir)
Details
Here's a rough idea of the hike:
Starting from Lafayette Ridge Staging area off Pleasant Hill road, across from Acalanes high school, we'll hike the fire road up and around to start the climb, where it’ll likely be the muddiest part of the hike. We’ll climb Lafayette Ridge Trail up past the barn, snaking around all the way up until we pass through the gate. From there we’ll go left and take it where it snakes around some nice houses above and below, before it stays mostly flat for some time, gradually climbing up to a juncture where we'll go right. We follow that path immediately to the left, staying flat for some time before beginning to climb up again to begin a series of rolling hills, ending with two big hill climbs before we climb up one last section to the picnic table at Russel Peak. We’ll take a short break there and then head back the way we came. The hills have lots of loose gravel and the sand can make it slippery, especially in the summer. Poles are recommended (though I don’t use them). Bring water and snacks. Dogs discouraged due to bicycles.
