Distance: 6 miles
Elevation gain: 770 ft
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous. (Though it's only six miles and 770 ft gain, this hike may be strenuous for some because nearly all the steepness occurs in 1.5 miles and there are several rock scrambles.)

Come celebrate Lesbian Visibility Week with a hike up Diamond Mountain. There are plenty of lesbian hikers out there and we can attract them with our lesbian colors. It's how birds do it. This is one of my favorite hikes with lovely paths along a brook and a climb up to several spectacular views.

We'll meet at Lake Sebago Boat Launch and walk south along the lake path, then left for a short distance on the Tuxedo-Mt Ivy Trail (red), then south again on Stony Brook (yellow), then left on the Kakiat Trail (white) to the Cascade of Slid. Toward the end of Kakiat the trail starts to rise and we'll have some boulders to clamber over. Then we'll turn left on the Seven Hills Trail (blue) and head steeply up. There's a fun rock face to walk up and in places you'll need to hoist yourself with your hands. At the top of Diamond Mountain we'll have lunch with quite the view! Then we'll gather the diamonds and the lesbians and continue along the ridge on the blue trail and make a gradual descent back down to the boat launch.

Notes:
There's a porta-jane at the boat launch.

I was happy in long pants and sleeves with bug spray because the lake path is a little overgrown with downed trees and there were mosquitos.

My cell phone is 201-450-5314, but there's no cell coverage at the trail head. If you decide not to come please change your RSVP to "not going" the day before so I can see it in time and you're not counted as a no show.

Please bring two liters of water with a trail lunch.

No guests or plus ones. Attendees must be signed up as members.

Friendly dogs who can rock scramble are welcome.
