Moderate to Challenging
Distance: 7miles, Elevation gain: 1100 ft
Terrain: Ups and downs, a few somewhat steep. Rocky paths but no rock scrambles.

We’ll start at the Big Hill/Jackie Jones parking lot where route 106 crosses the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail. We’ll go south on the SBM, past the ORAK ruins, over Jackie Jones and on up to the Big Hill shelter for a snack and a lovely view. We’ll then head down to Third and Second Reservoir for lunch by the water. Going back we’ll take a woods road, the Long Path and the SBM.

When I scouted two weeks ago, golden leaves were falling all around, catching the sun. Very pretty. Hopefully we’ll catch the tail end of that.

Recommended: boots, poles, lunch and two liters of water. Friendly dogs are welcome.
