What we’re about
✍ An Invitation to Sketch, Share, and Simply Be
Naturist Life Drawing Gatherings in and around Lagos
Hello — my name is Graeme. I'm a 48-year-old early retiree, originally from Scotland, now based near Lagos. I was a family physician and wilderness expedition leader before my life took a quieter, less predictable path. In 2019, I stopped work due to worsening symptoms of bilateral thoracic outlet syndrome, a chronic condition that brings constant neuropathic pain despite four major surgeries. In that
transition — from a busy professional career to learning how to live gently with my own limits — I discovered something unexpectedly transformative: naturism. Not the sunbathing cliché — but naturism as a philosophy. A way of being with ourselves and
others that embraces simplicity, equality, honesty, and shared humanity. I’m also a humanist and agnostic atheist by outlook, drawn to history, philosophy, and the arts — and in recent years I’ve found moments of peace and creative freedom through charcoal life drawing, especially at the Centre Helio Marin in Montalivet, France, where I’ve attended over 100 art sessions. Now, I’d like to bring that spirit to Lagos — not as an “event host,” but simply as a fellow participant offering an open invitation.
What I’m Envisioning:
A small, evolving series of clothes-optional life drawing gatherings, held in both outdoor and indoor locations around the Lagos area — sometimes spontaneously, sometimes planned.
• Clothes-optional for all, including the model(s)
• All bodies welcome — no experience in art or naturism required
• We’ll invite each other to try both drawing and modelling — always voluntarily
• You’re welcome to draw the model, the surroundings, each other, or something abstract
• Groups of around 5–15 people by mutual agreement
• Sessions may be private (within a known group) or open to newcomers
• Children welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult
• Duration: 1–3 hours, with each pose or scene lasting 20-30 minutes.
• Cost: Non-profit. Bring your own materials or contribute toward shared supplies at cost
This is about more than art. It’s about trust, creativity, vulnerability, and connection — within ourselves and with one another.
☕ Curious? Let’s Connect and Meet First
To help people feel at ease, informal pre-meetups could be arranged to get to know each other without pressure or expectation. If you’re interested, curious, or have questions — feel free to reach out. Whether you’re an artist, naturist, or just someone who wants to experience something simple and human, I’d love to hear from you.
Let’s sketch. Let’s connect. Let’s just be.
Warmly,
Graeme, hokepos@icloud.com, +351 926 604 925
