クラスについて:

この実践的なクラスでは、「感情をつくる」ことからではなく、
まずシェイクスピアの言葉そのものから演技を学びます。
リズム、イメージ、句読点、構造などを丁寧に読み解き、
性格、声・身体・感情のすべてを、テキストから自然に立ち上げていく方法を体験します。
必要に応じて日本語で解説しますので、英語に自信がない方も安心してご参加いただけます。
ハリウッドチームがzoomに参加　英語の発音など　プライベートレッスンで習う機会もあります。

クラス内容:

一人につき 2本のモノローグ に取り組みます
コメディのモノローグ 1本
シリアス（悲劇など）のモノローグ 1本
シェイクスピアのテキストから、感情の手がかり
動きやジェスチャーのヒント
声のリズムやテンポ
などを読み取り、言葉に導かれる演技を学びます。
少人数のグループ稽古と、1対1の個人レッスンの両方で丁寧に指導します。
最終日にはパフォーマンスを撮影し、映像としてお渡しします。

講師プロフィール：カズ・マタムラ
ロイヤル・シェイクスピア・カンパニー（RSC）認定アドバンス・インストラクター。
1992年にロサンゼルスへ移住し、1997年より演技指導を開始。現在はLAと東京の両方でシェイクスピアを教え、プロの俳優から一般の方、英語学習者まで、幅広い生徒を指導しています。
1998年にノースハリウッドのノーホー・アーツ・ディストリクトにて「シークレット・ローズ・シアター」を設立し、1999年には非営利団体「ファイア・ローズ・プロダクションズ」を設立。
教育者としては、ステラ・アドラー・アカデミー・オブ・アクティング・ロサンゼルスやホノルルのクム・カフア・シアター、パサディナ・アート・センターなど、名門機関で指導にあたってきました。
また、企業エグゼクティブを対象としたメディア・トレーナーとしても活動しており、プレゼンテーションやスピーチ、ボディランゲージ、パフォーマンスに基づいたコミュニケーション技術の指導を専門。
国際的なトレーニングとスタジオワークの経験をもとに、「必要な演技のヒントはすべてシェイクスピアのテキストの中にある」という考え方で、言葉を出発点とした実践的な演技メソッドを伝えている。
“メソッド”における感情の追体験を用いる手法を退け、キャラクター分析、サイコロジカル・ジェスチャー、“第一印象”の扱い方などの、具体的で身体的かつ分析的なツールを重視した、実践的でパフォーマンスに直結するテクニックを指導している。

About the Class

In this practical acting lab, you will discover that Shakespeare has already put all the clues you need to act inside his words.
Through clear, text-based work—using rhythm, imagery, punctuation, and structure—you’ll learn how to let the language guide your voice, body, and emotion.
Japanese explanations will be used as needed, so you can relax and focus on the work.

Who This Is For

Actors who want authentic Shakespeare / classical training
Non-actors and theatre lovers trying acting for the first time
People who studied English but are shy about speaking
Anyone curious about Shakespeare’s language and performance
No acting or English experience is required.
You don’t need to be an actor or fluent in English to join.

What You Will Do

Work on two monologues:
one comedic
one non‑comedic / tragedy
Learn how Shakespeare’s text gives you:
clear emotional clues
movement and gesture hints
vocal rhythm and pace
Rehearse in a small groups and in private 1:1 sessions
Present a final performance that will be professionally taped
(You may upload it anywhere you like.)

Your monologues will be recorded so you can keep them as material or share them online.

About Kaz Matamura

Kaz Matamura is an Advanced Instructor certified by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), and the only Japanese teacher to hold this qualification.
After moving to Los Angeles in 1992, Kaz began teaching acting in 1997. She now teaches Shakespeare both in LA and Tokyo, working with a wide range of students from professional actors to the general public and English learners.
As a theatre founder, she founded the Secret Rose Theatre in the NoHo Arts District (North Hollywood) in 1998 and founded the non-profit Fire Rose Productions in 1999.
As an educator, Matamura has taught acting at prestigious institutions such as the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Los Angeles and the Kumu Kahua Theatre in Honolulu.
She also serves as a media trainer for corporate executives, specializing in public speaking, body language, and performance-based techniques.
Drawing on extensive international training and studio experience, Kaz teaches a practical, performance-based technique that rejects "Method" emotional recall in favor of solid physical and analytical tools, such as character breakdown, psychological gestures, and managing "first impressions".
