Let's Hike: Independence Grove: Meet at North Bay Pavillion

Independence Grove is centered around a 115-acre lake reclaimed from a gravel quarry.
There is a marina with boat rentals, a native garden and nearly seven miles of trails for hiking and biking, with connections to the Des Plaines River Trail. Shaded picnic grove and outdoor pavilion. Only service animals are permitted at Independence Grove.

Trails
At Independence Grove, 7.5 miles of walking trails circle the lake and run through scenic natural areas. Trails here also connect to neighboring communities and connects with the Des Plaines River Trail.

The preserve’s Lakeside Trail and a short section of the Des Plaines River Trail (DPRT) have gravel surfaces. The Overlook Trail and the South Bay Trail Loop have paved surfaces. The North Bay Trail Loop has a combination of paved and gravel surfaces.

In consideration of the risk of injury that exists while participating in hiking and outing events and activities,

my desire to participate in said activity Release Lake Villa Day Hiking Meetup 2.0 Group, its organizers, co organizers, event organizers, event hosts, and all its Affiliates from all and any physical injury or damages I may suffer as a direct result of my participation in the aforementioned activity including travel before, after, and during the said event and any and all injuries and damages even if caused by negligence of The Lake Villa Day Hiking Meetup 2.0 Group, its agents, organizers and any other leaders in anyway connected to this event.

I am Voluntarily Participating in the aforementioned activity and I am participating in the activity entirely at my own risk.

I agree my guests will be made aware of this Waiver and Release of Liability.
