What we’re about
This is a group for people who want to enjoy outdoor walks with friendly people while supporting a great cause! We regularly schedule walks around Lakeland, with all proceeds going to Merit Foundation, a Lakeland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Merit Foundation serves disabled individuals in Laos, Thailand and Myanmar by providing groceries, medicine, clothing, housing, transportation and other necessities. I, Sam, am the director of Merit Foundation and I do not receive any compensation from this Meetup group or from my work with Merit Foundation. Walk Lakeland Highlands Scrub 🤍
Lakeland Highlands Scrub, 6998 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland, FL, USLet's walk the trails at Lakeland Highlands Scrub! We will meet at the trailhead parking lot where there are picnic tables and a porta-potty. From there, we will walk a 45 minutes loop that takes us through the beautiful pine scrub on a trail of white sugar sand. Along the way we will come to a boardwalk with a covered gazebo that has bench seating. Be sure to wear shoes that work well in deep sand and you may also want to bring some bug spray. I will be there about 15 minutes before the event begins, (probably wearing my camo Waffle House hat). Hope to see you there!
