    What we're about

    Public Group

    Welcome to Lambda Luminaries!

We are a bunch of Functional Programming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Functional_programming) enthusiasts in and around Gauteng.

We meet in Sandton (in West street, across from the Gautrain station), and our members are typically based in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

We started this group in August 2011 on Google Groups. Our first physical meetup was held on Monday, September 12, 2011.

You don't have to be an expert to join us, you just need to be interested in what you read here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Functional_programming

We get together once a month (every second Monday of the month) to discuss functional programming concepts and languages e.g. Haskell, Clojure, Scala, Erlang etc. We also like comparing these to other languages.

    Our goal is to:

help foster and grow a healthy FP community.

build skills by learning from each other.

have some interesting conversations with like-minded people.

keep the fun in functional programming.

We primarily use our Google Group (https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/lambda-luminaries) for announcements and discussions.
