M technology, also called MUMPS, is a tried, mature, and standardized database and programming environment originally designed as an operating system for PDP minicomputers. Although it is not well known and not taught at schools, it has its place and powers top world's financial and healthcare institutions all over the globe. Not as a historical inheritance, but as a technology platform getting more and more popular and being used to build new and modern internet-scale applications. IDEA is a traditional M technology-oriented softwarehouse with a wide variety of projects in many different fields of business critical software.

Topics to be covered (not necessarily in a single talk):

• a bit of history

• ANSI/ISO M standard, available implementations, extensions, main differences

• thinking in M data structures

• M, the language basics, common tricks

• common frameworks, tools, integration with relational world

• use cases in CZ/SK: healthcare, banking, manufacturing

• how do we use it: IDEA ObjectDB, Erlang/OTP, React.js

NOTE: The session is expected to be reactive, so we can slice the topics and serve them by $P[iece]s, depending on the feedback and $O[rder]s by audience.

CAUTION: by attending the session, you will most likely get infected by M[UMPS] mania and strong RDBMS aversion. None of the organizers takes any responsibility for that.
