Abstract: The talk will discuss basic principles behind Clojure and functional programming. What kind of problems it solves and which are the main ideas you can use also in other programming languages. We will explore world of functional programming, immutable data structures and how to deal with state of application. If there will be time, we will run 1000 light threads in browser.

Clojure is a functional programming language inspired by Lisp. Rich Hickey designed Clojure to be simple and pragmatic language for writing concurrent applications.

This talk is intended for Clojure beginners and people who are interested in new programming languages. Advanced Clojurians are encouraged to join us and help answer question and share their experience.

Bio: When he was young, Dan wanted to become be mathematician and philosopher. Then he found programming. Since then he used many programming languages and technologies, worked in large corporation and small startups, led team and memory size of his computer multiplied by one million. Today he works as a freelancer and organises Prague Lambda meetup.
