We’ll begin in the lovely village of Sabden, nestled below the dramatic backdrop of Pendle Hill. From here, we’ll follow footpaths that lead us gently uphill through pastures and moorland into the wild beauty of Ogden Clough, a remote valley etched into the flank of Pendle Hill.
Continuing the steady ascent, we’ll make our way to the summit of Pendle Hill (557m), with its wide-open views across Lancashire, Yorkshire, and on a clear day even the peaks of Snowdonia. We’ll pause at the trig point for photos and a breather before descending the stone-pitched path down into the village of Barley.
After a break in Barley (toilets, café, pub options), we’ll pass by Lower Ogden Reservoir, then climb again onto the open moor towards Saddlers Height, offering more great views and quieter trails. From here, we descend into the charming rural area of Sabden Fold, then take tracks and field paths back to our start point in Sabden.
