A scenic and varied circular walk taking in open moorland, quiet valleys, attractive villages and a gentle canal-side finish.

We start in Mytholmroyd, climbing steadily up onto Midgley Moor, where we’re rewarded with wide views across the Calder Valley and surrounding Pennine hills. The moorland paths offer a lovely sense of space and tranquillity, making the climb well worthwhile.

From here, we head across to Luddenden Dean, descending into this peaceful wooded valley with its streams, stone bridges and traditional Yorkshire countryside feel. We then climb gently into the charming hilltop village of Midgley, with its stone cottages, church and far-reaching views.

From Midgley, we descend back down to the Rochdale Canal, joining the towpath for a relaxed and mostly flat finish back into Mytholmroyd, providing a pleasant contrast to the earlier upland sections.
