Alport Castles - Peak District National Park

Details
This is a stunning walk in the Peak District National Park.
9.5 miles with 350m of ascent
We’ll set off alongside Derwent Dam & Reservoir, where Squadron 617 did their Dambusters practice. We will be on the flat for the first 3 miles before we head up through the woods to see the stunning views afforded at Alport Castles (weather permitting!).
This will be the main incline, the first half a mile is quite steep so we will take it nice & slow to allow everyone to catch their breath 😁
Once we’ve taken in the lovely views, we will start our return across Rownlee Pasture & down through Hagg Side woods, bringing us to Ladybower Reservoir where we will return back to the car park.
Meeting point - Fairholmes Visitor Centre (toilets / cafe here)
Parking £6 for the day
What to bring
Warm clothing / waterproofs as the weather here can change quickly.
Walking poles recommended.
Packed lunch / snacks and plenty of water to drink (it could be warm!)
