The Route: From Ambleside we gently ascend Loughrigg Fell with its magnificent views towards the Langdales & surrounding mountains before a descent towards & along the shores of Grasmere into the Village itself. (If time & weather permits)
Bring a packed lunch & a drink as well we’ll be having a picnic stop during the day.
After a brief halt we continue past Dove Cottage before dropping down through Banneriggs & crossing the footbridge taking us to Loughrigg Terrace. From here we follow a path along the West Bank of Rydal Water, visiting Rydal Cave. Then we roughly following the course of River Rothay bringing us back to Ambleside.
Dress for the weather, carry waterproofs, hat gloves, a drink and some food in a rucksack. I’d suggest comfortable boots be worn.
You must carry your personal details in the top of your rucksack
Dogs OK 1pp up to a maximum of 3 for the group, must be friendly & remain under control throughout the walk. Please indicate your intention to bring a dog when replying.
Car parking is hellishly expensive so definitely suggest car sharing.
