The Route:
5.2mls & 200m accumulated ascent.
After following the edge of a reservoir we’ll gently ascend through new woodland to a ruined deserted hamlet with incredible views towards the Rossendale Valley. Continuing we eventually reach the Singing Ringing Tree, where on a good day, we should get views over Burnley, the Colne Valley, West Yorkshire, Pennines & The Yorkshire Dales, with Ingleborough, PenyGhent in the distance. We return via Compstons Cross, the site of an ancient crossroads on the moors. Salters Trails, Pilgrims, Drovers & even the Romans may have used the routes. From here we return to the car park passing through the old hamlet of Gambleside.
