Details

This walk starts off taking in fields and woodland to the North of St Bees as we head up to Whitehaven. We will walk to Whitehaven Harbour where we will eat lunch. Anyone interested in why the harbour is rusty coloured.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gz0lyev6vo.
We will then return back Southbound taking the route of the English coast path which opened a few years ago. This route takes us through the Heritage Coastland, by the proposed site of a controversial new coal mine, past St Bees lighthouse and St Bees Head which is a SSSI for its bird life.
The walk is 13 miles long and the coastal stretch will be up and down as we cross headlands. For this reason I have classed the walk as hard but is suitable for those with decent fitness and walking boots!

Please bring your Ramblers card or £2 if you do not have a card. Cash payable at the walk start
