Worsthorne to Widdop

Details
Longer description: We’ll follow an old packhorse route, Gorple Road, out of the village onto open moorland. This is the Burnley Way for a large part of the walk, crossing over into Calderdale, West Yorkshire. There are great views to be had on a good day. We’ll head up to the Gorple Stones, a group of rock formations, before descending to Widdop Reservoir. We’ll then walk along the road for a short while crossing back over the border, before heading through some woods and visiting another reservoir, Swinsty Reservoir. We’ll then rejoin the original track before heading back to the village.
The tracks can be muddy so please wear good shoes or boots.
Meeting place: Church Square, Gorple Road, Worsthorne, Burnley. BB10 3NN.
Parking and toilets: There are usually spaces near the church. Please park here or on nearby streets, being considerate for the residents of the village and be aware that a church service will start a little later. There are public toilets nearby but may still be undergoing maintenance work.
Please note that we restrict the number of places available to Meetup as, unlike other groups, we have a large number of Ramblers Members who also attend our walks and who are not required to book as attending the walk via this app.
Ramblers members please remember to show your membership card or Phone Ap. (Otherwise, if not a Ramblers member please book a place via Hike on Lancashire on Meetup - suggested donation of £2)
