Note: Poor weather is forecast for tomorrow (MWIS website - so a lower level walk than that below will be provided)

A hard 12 mile walk that takes us from the car park in the village of Patterdale to Hartsop where we start the ascent to Thonthwaite Crag, to High Street (where we have lunch). Then returning to Patterdale via the Knott. Scenic views of the Eastern Fells. (Note: In the event of bad weather a lower alternative walk will be provided).

Car park on the left side of A592, before White Lion Pub and opposite the Patterdale Hotel (or on right side if travelling on A592 after the Struggle from Ambleside)

Directions: Travel: The A592 is closed at Troutbeck until early Summer, meaning there is no access from Windermere. The diversion is via the Struggle at Ambleside which I would not recommend given the traffic including motorhomes coming the other way. Instead, I suggest travelling to Junction 40, A66 then A592 South

The suggested donation for non-Ramblers Association (RA) members is £2 to cover Meet-up costs.

Please note that we restrict the number of places available on Meet-up as (unlike other Meet-up groups) we have a significant number of Ramblers who attend our walks and who are not required to book as attending via this app. We would, therefore, respectfully request that you do not reserve a place on any walk unless you are sure that you will attend.

Alternatively, why not join us and be a part of the Ramblers for a small annual subscription? Membership guarantees a place on all 'Hike on Lancashire' walks and ensures priority access to events organised by the Group. You can also walk with any other Ramblers Group across the UK.

Annual subscriptions go toward maintaining paths and allow the RA to campaign for improved access to the countryside. You will also receive the monthly 'Walk' magazine and a 15% discount at Cotswold Outdoors.

You can join by following the link below https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership
Please select Hike on Lancashire as your preferred Group.
