Details

Details
It is time to get out and do some hiking, so come on out and join us on Saturday morning February 24, 2024! We will meet at Nickell Branch Campground located off end of FS Road 102 and begin hiking on the Canal Loop Trail. We will hike a 4.8-mile loop as shown on the Canal Loop Trail Map, clockwise. Members may bring one guest and all participants need to be ready to begin the hike at 9:30 a.m. There is no charge for this event.

Please refer to the Canal Loop Trails map in photo section of this announcement for trail sections. The trails are moderate to difficult.

The allotted time for the hike is for a moderate pace of 2 miles/hour that includes time to take photos, and short breaks.

Dogs are allowed on this hike as long as they are on a leash at all times and are well mannered around people and other dogs. Please note that the Canal Loop Trail is shared with mountain bike-riders, and you need to be ready to get off the trail quickly!! Riders don't always let you know in advance that they are coming through on the trail behind you.

Please check weather forecast for location of event as it may be different than what is projected at your residence. You could miss out on a great hike opportunity! We will keep you posted of cancelations due to weather or any other preclusions.

If you have hiking poles/stick(s), please consider bringing them, they are very helpful on uneven terrain.
