Land Ops / G.I. Joe Search & Rescue
Joint Tactical Operation / February 16-17, 2013
GETTING TO BASE CAMP:
Friday February 15 (Early Arrivals)
Some people like to arrive early and set up camp on Friday. If you plan on coming out on Friday be sure you are confident in your ability to navigate to the base camp area. We recommend arriving during the day, however in recent events people would arrive throughout Friday afternoon and evening.
Base Camp Coordinates:
34.543423 N x 116.477860 W (decimal system)
adjust your GPS to display decimal NOT degress minutes and seconds. These coordinates are subject to change. If you navigate to these coordinates on Galway Dry Lake and you do not find the base camp simply look around the lake for a group of vehicles as we may adjust depending upon weather or if another group happens to occupy the area. Watch the video to understand the area. Video link to be posted here shortly....

G.I. Joe Search & Rescue Information
Victoria Le, founder of the G.I. Joe Search & Rescue and Chris Doering, founder of Land Ops Geotactical met recently to discuss what commonalities we may have among our two organizations. It quickly became apparent that teaming up for an outdoor training exercise/adventure would be beneficial to both the "Operators" in Land Ops Geotactical (LOG) and the "Joes" in G.I. Joe Search & Rescue (GIJSAR).
Although the mission and cause of each organization differs there is at least several common needs shared by "Joes" and "Operators" alike; In each group, in order to accomplish our objectives, we must function as a coherent team to overcome the chaos and adversity associated with the situations we encounter and the remote environments we operate in. Teamwork, mobility, navigation, and communication are not exclusive needs to either group. We must all learn to master our technologies and develop our ability through training to personally effect a solution within a team of people. People we might find standing at our side on any given assignment. People with varying levels of skill and ability.
Training/Adventure?
This op will probably be best described as a training adventure. Some new disciplines will be introduced, but the adventure and the thrill of the hunt are still the lure that has attracted many to the Land Ops teams.
