Golden Ears Hike From West Canyon Trail head & Parking to Evan’s Peak trail
Details
Hi,
we are planning a hike for this Saturday at Golden Ears Regional Park, West Canyon trail head and parking lot. Along the way, we can do some mineral prospecting up the stream by taking Evans peak trail and then taking a side route to the creek. This is a moderate level of difficulty which could take up to 4.5 hours to complete. If you haven’t done any previous hiking we will accommodate the route to suit your skill level. I want to remind everyone to bring the 5 essentials. See list below:
5 essentials list:
-
Map / Compass in addition to a phone with an extra battery or power bank.
-
Water with sea salt as an electrolyte, food. More than you expect.
-
Extra clothing—jacket, toque /warm hat, mitts/ gloves, scarf, extra socks, and hand warmers. (There may be light rain so dress appropriately)
-
Headlamp and/or Flashlight with extra batteries.
-
First Aid kit bandages, antiseptic wipes, fire-starting materials and / or a lighter or water proof matches and an emergency blanket.
For rides:
We have 1 vehicle so far with 2 seats still available. First come first serve. During the last ride share the vehicle filled up pretty quickly at the last minute. For those of you getting a ride from us or someone else we recommend contributing about $10 dollars for every hour of driving.
Disclosure for participants:
If you sign up for this hike you take on all responsibility for your safety and release the organizer from any liability now and the future.
Rest assured, I will try my best in the event of an emergency. But ultimately, careful planning and seeking Christ Jesus as your guide will be the best advice I can recommend.
