Feedback Workshop

Event Description:

This event will be an opportunity to get feedback from fellow writers. Whether your project is still an early draft or fully edited, you are welcome to attend. If you are not in a place for receiving feedback, you are still welcome! You may treat this time as you would a Free Write event, just please be aware that there may be some distractions.

How it works: This event is in person, but sharing work will take place on Google Drive. You will add a premade worksheet to the first page of your work that will allow you to communicate to your readers the level of critique you would like to receive as well as what you are most interested in receiving comments about. This worksheet will be used by readers to cater their feedback to what you are seeking.

A link will be sent to all people who have RSVP'd to this event on Thursday, May 2nd for the group's Google Drive. Please have your work uploaded to the folder by 8pm May 3rd. If you would like the opportunity to read before the event on Saturday, please feel free to do so.

The event on Saturday will include time to read all work shared, make notes, and time at the end to discuss one another's work. The duration of this event is often dependent upon how many attendees we have. Typically, they last anywhere between 2-3 hours.

What you will need: Access to and a working knowledge of Google Drive. Your piece can be any genre or style but should be a length that can be reasonably read in 10-15 minutes.

Event location

This event will be held Taste Coffee Co in Mason near the Okemos Rd exit on 96. There is a lot next to the building. This coffee shop used to be a restaurant and is set up as a series of rooms. I try to get a table in the first main room when you walk in. Please look for the Lansing Writing Group sign. If you have never been to Taste, their menu is below.

**Our group has been growing! Since this event will require us to be sharing materials, please RSVP here on Meetup or reach out to me directly. This will allow me to ensure you are sent the link to our Drive prior to the start of the event.

COVID precautions:

Masks are not required for this group, however, they are always respected if you choose to wear one. I always have hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes in my bag for events. All attendees are welcome to them, please just let me know.
