“Know Thyself” - Part 3 of 2. (Ha ha)
The last two sessions we have explored the golden thread of “Know Thyself” that is shared by all the great sacred traditions and depth psychology.
We have learned about our ego (our conscious self), our subconscious, and our higher self / the spark of the divine within us. The healthiest amongst us develop healthy egos during the first half of our life, but yet still yearn for something more. Some learn to take the road less traveled and explore identifying as their higher self instead of their ego. Those who take this path finally make progress toward filling the God-hole in their hearts. Here are some of the benefits:
· You become a better person (more patient, kind, loving, gentle, encouraging, self-disciplined)
· Doing “good” becomes as natural as breathing. No more “white knuckle” experiences.
· You worry less.
· You no longer care what others think about you and are thus not making decisions based on what others might think. Nothing offends you. Your self-worth is not dependent on the opinions of others.
· You no longer make fear-based-decisions. Instead your choices are based in faith and love.
· You suffer less - your life is one of living in harmony / union with the transcendent; so; you are simply a steward of all things under your influence. So, you are no longer concerned if you lose those things since they were never truly yours to begin with. You experience the “blessedness of possessing nothing”.
· You feel more alive. Like a lamp finally plugged into an electrical socket.
· You no longer are concerned with results or outcomes. You are simply living a life of staying in the flow of the transcendent - outcomes are no longer your responsibility.
Sounds amazing right?
So, why is everybody not choosing this road? It is so simple, but why is it so hard? And, if I want to chose the road less traveled, how do I actually do that?
These are the questions we hope to tackle at our next gathering.
