Laravel makes both API development and application testing easy with a wealth of tools provided for us out of this box. This talk will walk through the API building blocks in Laravel, in a test-driven manner, ensuring we have confidence in our API before we even open an API client such as Postman.

Building Advanced Instant Searches

The majority of websites have a search, either for a specific area or a global site search. Algolia makes it quick and easy to index single or multiple models with control over relevance. Alongside the indexing, Algolia has a brilliant instant search library that can search thousands of records in just a few milliseconds.

In this talk, we will show how to get going with Algolia and look at some of the advanced features that have been released with Scout Extended. This includes looking at aggregators – combining multiple models into a single index, as well as advanced search including geolocation radius search.
