Announcing a new Meetup for The Pittsburgh Large/Giant Breed Dog Meetup Group!

What: Hounds for Haiti fundraiser/workshops

When: Saturday, January 30,[masked]:30 AM

K9 Kingdom
155 Lake Drive
Wexford, PA 15090
[masked]-DOGS (3647)

Join us this Saturday, January 30th for a fun and educational event at K9 Kingdom, Wexford from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Your attendance will support first responder search teams such as those working in Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Urban Search and Rescue teams deployed from the US are credited with rescuing more than 43 individuals throughout Port au Prince, Haiti. Canines play a significant role in the success of missions such as these. Their training prepares them to search piles of rubble quickly, systematically, and efficiently. Their keen senses of smell and hearing aid their handlers in locating victims that could otherwise go unnoticed. When minutes and hours count, Urban Search and Rescue dogs are lifesavers.

Events throughout the day at K9 Kingdom will include:

How to Raise the Almost-Perfect Dog - a canine behavior seminar addressing common problem behaviors such as jumping up, pulling on leash, nuissance barking, and more. Dogs are optional but always welcome!

Canine Nutrition: How to Choose the Right Dog Food - a nutrition seminar given by Toni Shelaske of Healthy Pet Products to help you understand all the many new options in pet foods on the market today.

First Aid Basics for the Dog Owner - Learn what to do in emergency situations to help your dog. Recognize signs of illness, injury, and disease and know how to react.

Professional Pet Portraits by Picture People - Bring your photogenic pooch and capture the spirit on camera. Makes a great addition to your home decor, or makes a great gift! Affordable packages, wide array of options.

Self Service Dog Wash - Open all day - just bring in a dirty dog and enjoy the ease of bathing with our professional equipment and supplies.

Indoor Dog Park - Open during the lunch break

Please call[masked] or e-mail to sign up in advance for the workshops you are most interested in. Dogs are welcome, as always, but not at all required for any of the workshops. We're working on more activities and options for you to take part in. As we finalize plans, we'll put together a schedule and we will send another newsletter with more details.

Donations of $5 each are suggested for workshop attendance, and all proceeds from the event will benefit Urban Search and Rescue Dogs.
