North Hollywood/Valley Village Park: HALLOWEEN Pack Walk

Valley Village Park, 5000 Westpark Dr, Los Angeles, CA, US

HALLOWEEN PACK WALK Come in costume- dogs and humans! (Not required, but highly recommended) We will go a different route into a part of the neighborhood with streets packed with people, screaming kids, strollers/wagons, dogs potential candy and food on the ground. More difficult than the usual pack walk.

*If you have any light up or reflective gear for you or your dog, bring it!

REQUIREMENTS:
➊ Complete and submit a Member Form and Release of Liability **before** you come to your first class or packwalk.
➋ While we do not require you bring these documents, make sure your dog is current on the following:
Bordetella vaccinations/titer and rabies vaccination for dogs 4 months and older OR Bordetella vaccination for 4 months and younger; and

• Local animal care and control agency licensing requirements.

Also note that by signing our Release of Liability, you are confirming that you are up-to-date on these requirements.

RULES:
First rule of our pack walks is to BE SAFE so that everyone has fun! All participants must comply to ALL guidelines below or will be asked to leave the event.

1. Participants limited to 20 people. RSVP is required to hold a spot. As soon as you know you cannot attend, cancel your reservation. We understand last-minute changes take place; however, if you don't show up more than two times you will be placed on the wait list for future events.
2. If you feel even slightly ill (including a headache, sniffles, minor fever or even an allergy), do not attend this event. Stay home for your health and safety of others. Remember to cancel your reservation.
3. Maintain a 6 foot distance from other participants not in your household.
4. Face mask/shield is optional. Please maintain a 6' distance from anyone choosing to wear a mask.

MEETING LOCATION: We’re meeting at Valley Village park to the left/north of the playground. Westpark Dr and Hesby St.

PARKING: Street parking. Parking on Westpark Drive
north of Hesby St is best because it’s furthest away from where people let their dogs off leash.

WHAT TO BRING: Water for you and your dog. We will do some mental exercises and there will be lots of distractions and stimuli, so bring Iots of high value treats for your pup, too.

PACK WALK DISTANCE: About 1.5 - 2 miles round trip.

TRAIL: Mix of paved, dirt path and grass.

DIFFICULTY: Easy

DISTRACTION LEVEL: Now that it is lighter later there's the usual- other park visitors, other dogs, birds, squirrels, an “unofficial off-leash” dog section, etc.

LARPBO PACK WALK GUIDELINES:
#1 All dogs must be on a secure collar and leash. Dogs using e-collars must also be on a leash. Prong collars should be backed up with a carabiner. Short leashes are recommended (less than 6 feet). Retractable leashes and harnesses are not allowed as they provide little control.
#2 PLEASE NO NOSE TO NOSE CONTACT (dog to dog that is). Always maintain a six-foot distance between dogs. There should be no dog-on-dog interaction.
#3 Please bring doggie poo bags.
#4 Make sure you bring water for you and your dog.
#5 One dog per handler. No exceptions!
#6 Share the road. Move to the right to let others pass.

• All breeds welcome.
• There will be foot traffic, bikes, and several others dogs. If your dog tends to be reactive to any of these distractions, please be EXTRA mindful and prepared.

RELEASE AND WAIVER:

Sherman Oaks: Working Walk

This working walk is open to all levels and remember LARPBO embraces ALL BREEDS!

Instead of the usual classes, we are doing a working walk through VNSO Park! Come join us as we move through the park and its different distractions while doing exercises along the way. We will be meeting at the area that classes are held, but not staying in the area, so we recommend bringing a backpack to hold your valuables, water and your dog's water bowl. This way your hands will be free to manage your leash and getting treats to reward your dog.

This is a group-oriented walk that focuses on beginner to intermediate skills, including how to manage aggressive and selective behaviors.
Rain or shine, class will take place. Dress appropriately if rain is expected. However, if a major storm is forecasted or training area is deemed unsafe, we will cancel the class (and reschedule it for the next Saturday). Check Meetup schedule 6pm the night before the class. The Meetup schedule will always be accurate.

1. Class is limited to 30 handler/dog teams. Absolutely NO walk-ins allowed. RSVP and PRE-PAYMENT is required to hold a spot.

**No refunds (or re-scheduling) will be made for missed classes or cancellation; register only if you will attend.**
Friends or family members accompanying the participant must keep a minimum 20-foot distance from the class area.

Van Nuys/Lake Balboa Pack Walk 8 AM!!

We're moving the starting location back to the parking lot of the Woodley Lakes Golf Course, 6331 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys 91436.
Enter the second driveway south of the Orange Line busway on the west side of Woodley.

IT'S GOING TO BE COOL in the morning but warming up quickly, please bring plenty of WATER for you and your dog.
Casual walk around the Lake. Dogs get to be with their humans and see other dogs with their humans. Reinforce those engagement skills in an area with lots of distractions.

Weather on Sunday, 11/2/2025, morning is forecasted Partly Cloudy AND Mild, about 64 degrees @ 8 AM with a high of 84 for the day. PLEASE GET THERE EARLY. WE WANT TO STEP OFF RIGHT AT 8 AM!! It's going to be hot so please bring plenty WATER for you and your dog.

We will start at the parking lot, walk along the busway, over towards the west side of the park (dirt path and 2 bridges), over another bridge back to the lake, around the south end of the lake, through the playground to the creek, and along the east fence back over a bridge to the golf course.
TRAIL*: Half paved, half dirt
DIFFICULTY: Easy
DISTRACTION LEVEL: Medium (other park visitors, other dogs, ducks, squirrels)

Long Beach: Group Training Class

THIS IS A SINGLE SESSION GROUP TRAINING CLASS
This is a group-oriented class that focuses on the basic fundamentals of obedience: sit, down, place, come and stay. These skills are needed for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification, which we offer throughout the year.
