Sherman Oaks: INTRO Group Training Classes on 9/27, and10/4

THIS IS A 2-DAY INTRO CLASS: 2 CONSECUTIVE SATURDAYS specifically on 9/27, and 10/4. If you cannot attend both of these days, do NOT register for this class. There is no refund or rescheduling of a missed class or cancellation. Participants must pay $50 when registering for the first class and will be auto-enrolled for the 2nd week.

Class is limited to 15 handler/dog teams. Absolutely NO walk-ins allowed. RSVP and PRE-PAYMENT is required to hold spots.

This is a group-oriented class that focuses on the basic fundamentals of obedience: sit, down come, stay and place. These skills are needed for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification, which we offer throughout the year.

REQUIREMENTS:

➊ Complete and submit a Member Form and Release of Liability **before** you come to your first class.

➋ While we do not require you bring these documents to class, make sure your dog is current on the following:

• Bordetella vaccinations/titer and rabies vaccination for dogs 4 months and older OR Bordatella vaccination for 4 months and younger; and
• Local animal care and control agency licensing requirements.

Also note that by signing our Release of Liability, you are confirming that you are up-to-date on these requirements.

RULES:

#1 One dog per handler. No exceptions.

#2 All dogs must be on a secure collar and leash. Dogs using e-collars must also be on a leash. Prong collars should be backed up with a carabiner. Short leashes are recommended (less than 6 feet). Retractable leashes and harnesses are not allowed as they provide little control.

#3 PLEASE NO NOSE TO NOSE CONTACT (dog to dog that is). Always maintain a six-foot distance.

#4 Friends or family members accompanying the participant must keep a minimum 20-foot distance from the class area. You are able to swap out handlers during the class, but the person coming to the second class must have attended and at least observed the first class.

WHAT TO BRING:

➡ Water for you and your dog.

➡ High value treats for your dog (e.g., small pieces of hot dog, boiled chicken breast). Consider not giving your pup breakfast since your dog will be rewarded with treats during this 1-hour class.

➡ Doggie poo bags. Always clean up after your pet.

Sherman Oaks: Working Walk

This working walk is open to all levels and remember LARPBO embraces ALL BREEDS!

Instead of the usual classes, we are doing a working walk through VNSO Park! Come join us as we move through the park and its different distractions while doing exercises along the way. We will be meeting at the area that classes are held, but not staying in the area, so we recommend bringing a backpack to hold your valuables, water and your dog's water bowl. This way your hands will be free to manage your leash and getting treats to reward your dog.

This is a group-oriented walk that focuses on beginner to intermediate skills, including how to manage aggressive and selective behaviors.
Rain or shine, class will take place. Dress appropriately if rain is expected. However, if a major storm is forecasted or training area is deemed unsafe, we will cancel the class (and reschedule it for the next Saturday). Check Meetup schedule 6pm the night before the class. The Meetup schedule will always be accurate.

Van Nuys/Lake Balboa Pack Walk **NEW STARTING LOCATION** 8 AM!!

We're moving the starting location back to the parking lot of the Woodley Lakes Golf Course, 6331 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys 91436.
Enter the second driveway south of the Orange Line busway on the west side of Woodley.

IT'S GOING TO BE HOT, please bring plenty of WATER for you and your dog.
Casual walk around the Lake. Dogs get to be with their humans and see other dogs with their humans. Reinforce those engagement skills in an area with lots of distractions.

Weather on Sunday, 10/05/2025, morning is forecasted SUNNY AND Mild, about 61 degrees @ 8 AM with a high of 75 for the day. PLEASE GET THERE EARLY. WE WANT TO STEP OFF RIGHT AT 8 AM!! It's going to be hot so please bring plenty WATER for you and your dog.

First rule of our pack walks is to BE SAFE so that everyone has fun

All participants must comply to ALL guidelines below or will be asked to leave the event.

MEETING LOCATION:
Let's meet at the Woodley Lakes Golf Course, 6331 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys, 91436. Enter the second driveway south of the Orange Line busway on the west side of Woodley.
PARKING: Free parking at the park during the week.
WATER AND TREATS: PLEASE BRING WATER for you and your dog. We may do some mental exercises, so bring treats for your pup, too!
PACK WALK DISTANCE: About 2 miles round trip. We will start at the parking lot, walk along the busway, over towards the west side of the park (dirt path and 2 bridges), over another bridge back to the lake, around the south end of the lake, through the playground to the creek and along the east fence back over a bridge to the golf course.
TRAIL*: Half paved, half dirt
DIFFICULTY: Easy
DISTRACTION LEVEL: Medium (other park visitors, other dogs, ducks, squirrels)
