Long Beach - Mini-Pack Walk Before Group Training Class

Details
Rita Vasquez will be leading a 20-25 minute pack walk around the park immediately before group training class. The purpose of the walk is to allow the dogs to acclimate to the many distractions that occur in a park setting, burn off a little nervous energy, and achieve even greater success during class training.
The walk will be approximately 1 mile consisting of a loop around the park and then a loop around the lake. The route will begin at the class location and follow the paved trail towards Clark Avenue and back along the bridge towards Heartwell Lake. Participants are welcome to do just one or both loops.
If you plan to attend the class after this mini pack walk, please be sure to RSVP for that, too.
MEETING LOCATION: Same as the class location near the parking lot of the Ruth Bach Neighborhood Library.
TRAIL: Grass, Pavement
DIFFICULTY: Easy
DISTRACTION LEVEL: Moderate
LARPBO Pack Walk Guidelines:
# 1 All dogs must be on a secure collar and leash. Dogs using e-collars must also be on a leash. Prong collars should be backed up with a carabiner. Short leashes are recommended (less than 6 feet). Retractable leashes are not allowed as it provides little control.
#2 PLEASE NO NOSE TO NOSE CONTACT (dog to dog that is). We recommend maintaining a six-foot distance.
#3 Please bring doggie poo bags.
#4 Make sure you bring water for you and your dog.
#5 One dog per handler.
#6 Share the road. Move to the right to let others pass.
-
All breeds welcome.
-
There will be foot traffic, bikes, and several others dogs. If your dog tends to be reactive to any of these distractions, please be EXTRA mindful and prepared.
-
