Gee, Golly, Gosh!

The pandemic has come.... and is less all-consuming at present.

At the same time, some of us who were local have gone ... greener pastures, a farm upstate, various distant points.

So we're still meeting up online once a week to enjoy virtually hanging out with folks near and far.

we meet up on discord (discord.com) and then discuss what online game(s) we'll play on what venue(s).

I'll update the discord link with a current link weekly, typically Monday night before every Tuesday.....

boardgamearena.com and yucata.de are likely sites, so having an account there ahead of time is probably a good idea

horsepaste.com is a very good, very utilitarian implementation of Codenames in a browser

We have infrequently played games on Table Top Simulator on Steam

---- UPDATE: DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS

Here's a bit more detail on all the bits since we're "all online" for the foreseeable future:

First: Discord
Discord is an American VoIP, instant messaging and digital distribution platform designed for creating communities. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discord_(software) ]
Discord can be accessed by apps on many devices or via a browser.
Discord requires a free account be set up.

There is a dedicated "server" on Discord mostly for Las Cruces Board Gaming, it's name is "D's Mostly Cruces Board Gaming"
On that server, there are dedicated "channels", both text ("text-general-gaming") and voice ("Board Game 1 - the default starting place - let's talk!!" ) for boardgaming. The voice channels support video too, but generally we stick to just audio.
Initially, you need to follow the link in the Meetup location to get access to the server and the channels. Then once you're in , you can just come back.

Discord is THE hub where we meet, and both text and voice channels are used. You COULD get by with one or the other channel, but it would hinder communications, and be a PITA for everyone.

Second: Board Game Arena
Board Game Arena (BGA) is an online board games platform. [ https://boardgamearena.com/join?aboutmode ]
BGA is accessed via a browser on any device . (That said, screen real estate directly impacts your playing experience)
BGA requires a free account to be set up.

We tend to play a lot of games at BGA because: there are good games there, they are pretty, and BGA supports a "real time" gaming mode.
BGA games frequently played include:
Dice Forge
Kingdomino
6 nimmt!
7 Wonders
Welcome To
Roll for the Galaxy
Love Letter
Alhambra
Rallyman: GT
Saboteur
Incan Gold
Kingdom Builder
Sushi Go!
Carcassonne
Battle Sheep
Colt Express
Stone Age
