This week we'll walk along the west base of Tortugas Mountain (also known as "A" Mountain, due to the letter A spelled out with stones at the summit).
We will meet under the picnic pavilion just above the parking area, located at the junction of Sonoma Ranch Boulevard and Dripping Springs Road.
We will begin the hike promptly at 8:00 a.m. so we can still enjoy a little morning shade. Bring water, sunscreen, etc. Some of the desert cacti are blooming as a result of the recent rains, and Scott's Orioles can often be seen nesting and feeding in the yucca. The trail is easy to walk and there isn’t much elevation gain.
Full transparency, we are a slower, easy-going group. We have participants of varying ages, fitness levels, and abilities. If this isn’t your thing that’s fine, anyone is welcomed to create their own hikes with people that match their fitness levels. Beginners and first time hikers welcomed! Please don’t feel like you are too slow or out-of-shape to join.
