Learn about the hardware and software of computer clustering.
IT is a team sport in every way. Hardware like CPU, GPU, RAM and storage have to work together with the people that
create and maintain software and websites. Just like sports everyone in tech is rooting for their home team, be it an
OS, programming language, or cloud provider.
In today's world that includes a lot of you using cloud computers, containers, VMs and server-less applications, but do
you know how those providers provide those services?
The cloud is nothing but a cluster of computers offered by a provider to you to run your stuff. In this meetup we will
learn some of the underlying technology and principals of how they do that including information on large installation
system administration (clustering), load balancing, distributed storage, and redundant networking.
Chad Columbus, a software developer and system administrator with over 30 years of experience, will lead this
interactive session. This is a conversation not a lecture, think of it as a dodge ball game and come at him with your
best questions! More questions = more fun!
