Spooky Bits - an intro to quantum computing

Spooky Bits - an intro to quantum computing

Details

Brian Kirkby from Zappos will be talking about Quantum Computing Tue the 25th at WIP

Synopsis: No one really understands the strange properties inherent in the world of quantum mechanics, but that doesn't mean we can't use what we don't understand. This lunch and learn starts off with a brief history of the experiments exposing the strange properties of quantum mechanics; we will then explore some of the ways we can use those strange properties to compute things that we can't do with classical computers. No previous knowledge of quantum mechanics is needed to gain value from the discussion. I should warn you, however, that if you have no prior exposure to the quantum world, you might just have your mind blown about the fundamental nature of reality. Quantum Mechanics, superposition, entanglement, superdense coding, prime factorization (how quantum computers make RSA obsolete), and artificial intelligence are among the topics discussed.
