GAUDY NIGHT or STRONG POISON by Dorothy L. Sayers

Each summer we read a classic – – we are doing two this Summer. Dorothy L Sayers is our first author. Educated at Oxford (graduated with first class honors in medieval French🤓—thats impressive), Gaudy Night was her 12th novel, famed for her detective novels about Lord Peter Wimsey—this was her first with a female protagonist. She and her friend Agatha Christie broke the glass ceiling for female detectives. Written 90 years ago, Goodreads has Gaudy Night at 4.5 stars, Amazon 4.4. Some reviews say to read her earlier works, Strong Poison and/or Have His Carcase first—if you’d like to do that, go ahead… might make our discussion even more fabulous. (If that’s even possible!💜📚)
