PCT Hike at Domingo Springs TH
Details
Meet at Walmart parking lot near Jack in the Box by 9AM. Look for a light gray Ford Maverick pickup with a yellow Happy Face flag. From there, we will caravan to the Domingo Springs trailhead.
The local Maidu Indians referred to Domingo Springs as the "center of the universe". The cold, clear water rushes from the side of a lush, boulder-strewn hillside - very pretty and intriguing!
The Domingo Springs campground (elev 5,060 ft.) is less than one-half mile from the Pacific Crest Trail. After we reach the PCT, we will hike north for approximately 2.5 hours. Intended destination will be Little Willow Lake (elev. 6,080 ft). From there we can decide to either turn around, or push on towards Terminal Geyser (elev. 6,040 ft.) - another two mile round trip of additional hiking.
This might be our last chance to do the hike prior to the access roads being closed due to snow. Please see attached map with the highlighted trail. This area was included in the 2021 Dixie fire. So, I anticipate most of the trail to be burned landscape. However, what I will be looking for is the amount of understory regrowth.
Sorry, but No Dogs will be allowed on this hike, as the upper portion of the hike crosses into the Lassen Volcanic National Park, which does not allow dogs on trails.
Please RSVP to Leader Gale at 530-260-1534.
Same # for any questions regarding the hike.
See you there!
