Trail Name: Jennie and Weaver Lakes Loop
Description: This is loop trail of about 17.5 miles located in Jeannie Lakes Wilderness just outside of Sequoia National Forest. We will be starting at Big Meadow TH. Several campgrounds are located near the Big Meadow Trailhead. Plan to do this loop in 2 nights stopping one night at Jennie Lake then one night at Weaver Lake. Trail is rated as Hard. Total elevation gain is 2,992 ft. Self Registration at the TH. No fee is required.
We will meet at the Big Meadow Trailhead at 8:00 am and on the trail by 8:30am.
Friday: We will be hiking this loop counter-clockwise. At the trail junction, turn right uphill toward Jeannie Lake. Hike over Poop Out pass. There will be a trail junction near Poop Out Pass. Turn left and continue the hike up to Jennie Lake. Hike about 6 miles to Jennie Lake and camp for the night.
Saturday: Continue along trail over Jo Pass, turning left toward Gannon Creek. (Sequoia National Park Boundary is on the right) Continue to follow the trail north then turn left again at the trail junction toward Weaver Lake. Hike is about 8.4 miles. Camp for the night at Weaver Lake.
Sunday: Hike west about 3.8 miles back toward loop junction. Turn right back toward Big Meadow Trailhead.
You will need a California campfire permit if plan to use camp stove. You can get a free permit online at https://www.readyforwildfire.org/permits/campfire-permit/
Bear canisters are recommended but not required. Black bear activity noted in the area.
