Trinity Alps Wilderness Backpacking Trip
Dates: 7/26/25-7/28/25
Trail Name: Stuart Fork Trail to Emerald and Sapphire Lakes
Description: This is an out and back trail. Total mileage is 27 miles located in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Total Elevation Gain: 4583ft. Will need wilderness permit which I will pick up the morning of the hike.
Meeting Point: Stuart Fork TH, next to Bridge Camp.
Saturday, July 26th: Day 1: Hike from Stuart Fork TH to Morris Meadow. About 8.8 miles to Morris Meadow. Will find a place near there to camp for the night. Total Elevation Gain: 1718ft.
Sunday, July 27th: Day 2: Day Hike from Morris Meadow to Emerald and Sapphire Lakes and return to our campsite. Will pass Emerald Lake prior to getting to Sapphire Lake. About 4.7 miles each way for total of 9.4 miles. Total elevation gain is 1495ft. You have the option of leaving today if you are not able to stay an additional night.
Monday, July 28th: Day 3: Return hike back from Morris Meadow along Stuart Fork Trail to our cars.
We will be meeting at the Stuart Fork Trailhead on Saturday morning (7/26) at 8:00am and on the trail by 8:30am.
You will need a California campfire permit if plan to use camp stove. You can get a free permit online at Campfire Permit - Ready for Wildfire. Bear canisters or Ursacks are recommended but not required.
