Photo Hike: Sunol Wilderness (Overnight)

Hello Everyone!

I found some nice campsites the last time I was hiking around Sunol Wilderness and got a permit for one of the campsites for this weekend. This will be an easy overnight backpack camping trip with a water source, outhouse, and picnic tables.

Sunol Wilderness Backcountry Camping (6.5mi/1500ft)

General Plan:

Saturday, 6/28
16:00 - Meet at designated location
16:30 - Arrive at TH/Start Hiking
18:00 - Arrive at campsite (3.25 mi/1500ft)

Sunday, 6/29
09:00 - Pack camp, explore surrounding areas
11:30 - Arrive back to TH
12:00 - Return designated location, after hike food/drinks optional

Checklist:

1. Hiking shoes/poles
2. Water + filter
3. Sun protection
4. Wind protection
5. Money for parking/drivers if carpooling
6. Camera/gear
7. Sleeping gear (tent, bag, pad)
8. Cooking gear (stove, gas, etc)
9. Camping food (1 dinner, 1 breakfast, snacks)
10. Toiletries (toothbrush/paste, soap, TP)

Several things to note:

1. Understand the trial stats and timing. You need to be in appropriate physical and mental condition.
2. If you go at your own pace, you will need to find your own way. Study the trails and be prepared to route find if you get lost.
3. Detours have to be discussed with the group. Do not go off by yourself without notifying anyone.
4. You are responsible for your own safety (water, food, gear, elements, emergencies, route finding, etc.)
5. (Optional for this trip) Know and have the 10 essentials
6. You can go directly to the TH by yourself, coordinate with me beforehand.
7. Spots are limited. Cancellations less than 24 hours or no shows will be banned from coming to future events.
