Fall Backpacking Trip-Sykes Hot Springs

Trail Name: Sykes Hot Springs via Pine Ridge Trail
Description: 19.7 miles out and back trail located in Ventana Wilderness south of Big Sur. Some trailgoers are reporting with the reroute the trail is now 11 miles to Sykes Camp. Total Elevation gain: 5,380 feet. Be advised that hot springs is clothing optional. $10/day fee is charged for parking. Can pay at the kiosk at the entrance to the parking lot or the Big Sur Station (9am-4pm). At Sykes camp, there are wilderness toilets available to do your business but must pack out TP. Groups no more than 4 people.

Thursday: October 16th: Meet at the Pine Ridge Trailhead at 7:30 am and on the trail by 8am. Hike 6.7 miles to Barlow Flat Camp. Set up camp and then day hike to Sykes Hot Springs

Friday: October 17th: Pack up at Barlow Flat Camp and hike 3.1 miles to Sykes Camp. Spend the day here in the hot springs.

Saturday: October 18th: Return back on the trail to Pine Ridge TH to our vehicles. Between 9.85 to 11 miles.

No camp fires but camp stoves okay. You will need a California campfire permit if plan to use camp stove. You can get a free permit online at Campfire Permit - Ready for Wildfire. No wilderness permit is required. Bear canisters are recommended but not required.
