Half Dome Cables / Yosemite

September 3rd - September 6th

Transportation and Lodging:
We will be carpooling from the Bay to Yosemite, leaving in the early afternoon on the 3rd. We will return on the 6th, playing by ear, but likely in the evening / night. We have campground reservations in the Valley for all 3 nights at different sites in the Upper/Lower Pines Campgrounds.

What We'll Do:
Permit for Half Dome on the 4th. We will start early, likely at 6 am. This means in the car at 5:50 and at the trailhead at 6. Wake up early enough to eat breakfast and take down camp.
On the 5th and 6th we can play by ear, but some options are another intense hike that passes Yosemite Falls to summit El Capitan, a 5 mile loop of Sentinel Dome, Roosevelt Point, and Taft point, or any other activities in the valley. We will be keeping in the valley and not Tuolumne because valley campgrounds are not easy to get ahold of.

Cost:
$10 for Half Dome permit, $27 for 3 nights of campground, + splitting gas cost.

Important:
Half Dome is a 16 mile hike with 5k+ feet of elevation gain. This is not a hike for the out of shape. The cable section at the end is steep and a fall could be potentially life ending, not ideal for those with fear of heights.
