July 26th-28th Buck Lakes -Emigrant Wilderness Trip

Due to the Butler Fire had to cancel the trip to Trinity Alps this weekend so replacing with this trip

Trail Name: Buck Lakes via Crabtree Trailhead
Description: This is a loop trail located in Emigrant Wilderness near Pinecrest. Total 26 miles for the loop. Trail is rated as Moderate. Total elevation gain is 3,930 ft. Permit is required which I will pick up on my way to the trailhead.
We will be hiking clockwise. First stop will be Piute Lake which has a designated campground around the lake. Hike to Piute Lake is about 7.8 miles. Next stop will be at either Buck Lake at 12.8 miles or Lower Bucks Lake at about 14.0 miles. On Monday will hike back out to Crabtree Trailhead.
We will meet at the Crabtee Trailhead at 8am and on the trail by 8:30am.
Saturday: Begin on Crabtree Trail (20E16) from Crabtree TH. Hike to junction about 1.4 miles and continue left onto Crabtree trail. Continue to Camp Lake to junction. Vere right onto Crabtree trail. Continue on Crabtree to Lily Lake. Will continue to Piute Lake. Designated Campground at Piute Lake. Will find a spot.
Sunday: Pack up and continue along Crabtree trail to Gem Lake. Continue on Crabtree Trail to Jewelry Lake and then Deer Lake. Continue onto Crabtree Trail to Buck Lake. Vere right onto 21E16. Will find camping spot along Buck Lake or Lower Buck Lake.
Monday: Pack up and continue along 21E16. Vere right onto 20E17. Continue past Wood Lake then Grouse Lake. Continue on Bell Meadow Trail to Crabtree Trail Juntion. Very left back to TH and car.
You will need a California campfire permit if plan to use camp stove. You can get a free permit online at Campfire Permit - Ready for Wildfire.
Bear canisters are recommended but not required.
