LVMC Presents: Mt. Rainier via the Emmons Glacier

Details
Join us as Parker Wolf, Jeff Von Tobel, Chris Brehaut, and Cameron Robinson do a presentation on climbing Mount Rainier via the Emmons Route, led by members of the Las Vegas Mountaineers Club (LVMC) who successfully summited in June. This presentation will provide an overview of climbing Mount Rainier, a 14,411-foot active stratovolcano and the highest peak in Washington state, known for its extensive glaciation and unpredictable weather.
We'll cover key details about the Emmons Route, which starts at the White River Campground and ascends over 10,000 feet to the summit. The Emmons route has fewer people, fewer guided groups, and more route finding than the standard DC route.
The presentation will discuss the physical and technical demands of the climb, including travel through crevasse-laden glaciers, snowfields, and the final push to the summit. You'll also learn about necessary preparations, such as choosing the right gear, practicing crevasse rescue and getting in shape for the climb.
LVMC in-person presentations are held in the community meeting room at REI in Boca Park at 7 pm, the 4th Wednesday of each month.
The club will provide snacks and water.
See you there!
