Altitude: 6400' - 14,379'
Terrain Description: Trail to Shepherd Pass, then a boulder-hopping trek across Williamson Bowl and a steep gully leading to a short class 3 chimney that leads to the summit ridge
Approximate Hiking Time: 27-33 hours for the 3 days (10-12 for pack in to Shepherd Pass, 10-12 roundtrip from camp to Williamson), 7-9 for pack out)

Mt Williamson is a magnificent mountain. It is the second highest peak in CA, only surpassed by Mt Whitney. It is on the LVMC Classic 50 Peak list, as well as being on many other lists. It is a very difficult peak, involving a 11 mile, 6500' gain backpack to camp at Shepherd Pass, and then a long summit day crossing bouldery Williamson Bowl to the gully and class 3 chute that leads to the summit area!

This trip will require strong physical fitness, endurance, and determination. I have 8 permits for this trip. Permits are $6/person. If this trip fills up, there are some walk-up permits available the morning before we start. There is an optional side trip to Mt. Tyndall, another 14er, from our camp.

Travel arrangements can be decided as it gets closer, but we will start hiking early Friday 7/10 and should be back to the vehicles Sunday late afternoon. It is about a 5 hour drive from LV to the trailhead, including a little over a mile on a fairly rough dirt road to the trailhead.
