DAY HIKE: First Pk & Second Pk
Details
Total Distance: 7-10 miles round trip
Total Elevation Gain: 1500-2000'
Altitude: 3150'-4083'
Terrain Description: Off-trail hiking/scrambling on sandstone, class 2-3
Approximate Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
This hike is meant to coordinate with the group camp in Snow Canyon State Park. We will leave directly from the campground walking down the road a couple of miles to the start of a prominent sandstone ridge. We will head up the ridge, going over First Peak on the way to equally creatively-named Second Peak. From there, we may or may not be able to descend directly to the valley floor. If not, we would have to backtrack along the ridge until we can safely descend. I would expect class 2, with plenty of class 3. This route is completely exploratory...should be fun!
