Week-long trip: Colorado!
Details
Every year I spend a week traveling out to Colorado for peak-bagging. This is not a traditional LVMC trip in several ways-
- The itinerary subject to change, and often does, even the day before. This is primarily because we want to reduce the chance for bad weather. Other factors can involve unforeseen challenges restricting access.
- Carpooling - given the extended time frame, carpools are not assigned- they should be determined by mutual agreement. The more high-clearance 4WD vehicles the better, but we will make do with any cars willing and able drive easy dirt roads. We'll re-arrange loads to get everyone in the 4WDs for the access roads that require it.
- While we enjoy camaraderie, different people have different preferences so people come and go throughout the trip. If we are doing different peaks in the same area, we will try to camp together.
- While we enjoy camping, we usually try to get in a hotel night every few nights. Sometimes weather or other factors will cause some to want additional hotel stays.
- Likewise, dining is up to the individual- it makes sense to prepare for restaurants to be unavailable, but when they are, those who want to enjoy them are welcome. Because of timing, this opportunity almost only comes for dinners.
2026 Itinerary: To be determined
All the planned peaks will be new to me, so this is exploratory.
