Memorial Day Weekend trip- Smoky Dome (ID)
Details
This is a trip to summit Smoky Dome, a peak with over 3,000 feet of prominence, the highest point in the Soldier Mountains, and the most prominent peak in Camas County. We'll also hike Knoll Mountain, a Nevada mountain with about 2,800 feet of prominence, on the way up, and South Pequop Benchmark, a Nevada mountain with over 3,000 feet of prominence on the way back.
Due to the long amounts of driving, I'll be staying in hotels (Ely, Twin Falls, then Wells) to save time.
The plan is to leave Las Vegas on Friday and hotel in Ely, NV. On Saturday, we'll climb Knoll Mountain, then head up to Twin Falls for dinner and a hotel. On Sunday, we'll get an early start to climb Smoky Dome, and then drive south to Wells, Nevada, probably stopping in Twin Falls for dinner on the way. On Monday, we'll hike South Pequop Benchmark before returning to Las Vegas, probably stopping somewhere along the way for dinner.
