Weekend trip- Great Basin Challenge
Details
This is a trip to (sort-of) join the first annual Great Basin Challenge. See https://www.greatbasinchallenge.com/ for more details. I say sort-of joining because I will only make one of the peaks (Saturday's ascent of Silver Peak) on the challenge. Because I can't stay through Monday, I'll be doing Monday's peak (Mount Montezuma) on Sunday. I plan on camping with the group both Friday and Saturday nights. Please don't let my limitations stop you- if you're able and willing to do more of the challenge, feel free to do so.
On Saturday, if anyone feels like it, there's a P1K (Peak 7748) just south of Silver Peak that would add about 1,000 feet of gain and a couple of miles.
Total Distance: 5.5 miles round trip Sat, 3 miles Sun
Total Elevation Gain: 1,900' Sat, 1,800' Sun
Altitude: 6,260 - 9,150'
Terrain Description: class 1-2 expected, maybe some class 3 on Montezuma
Approximate Hiking Time: 5 hours Sat, 5 hours Sun
Please remember to answer the question after RSVPing.
