About us

🥾 Late Risers Hiking Club
Love hiking, but not the early starts? Welcome to the Late Risers Hiking Club—a London-based, friendly community for people who enjoy exploring the outdoors without the sunrise meetups.
We’re here to help people discover new trails, enjoy the fresh air, meet like-minded hikers, and build friendships along the way. Whether you’re looking for weekend adventures, new hiking buddies, or simply an excuse to spend more time outdoors, you’re welcome to join us.

------------------------

What to expect
Our hikes are planned around enjoying the journey, not just reaching the destination. We aim for an average walking pace of approximately 4–5 km per hour, with regular breaks for lunch, rest stops, photos, and sightseeing.
Each hike will have a volunteer coordinator who will share the route details, meeting point, and any important information beforehand. The coordinator will help with navigation on the day, but please note that our hikes are not professionally guided. Every participant is responsible for their own safety, preparation, and decisions throughout the hike.

Free meetups and RSVPs
All Late Risers Hiking Club meetups are free to attend.
As places on hikes may be limited and organisers spend time planning routes and logistics, we kindly ask that you only RSVP if you intend to attend. If your plans change, please cancel your RSVP at least 24 hours before the hike whenever possible so that others have the opportunity to join.

Who can join?
The Late Risers Hiking Club is open to adults aged 21 and above only.
We welcome beginners on suitable hikes, but please read each event description carefully before signing up. Some routes may involve steep sections, uneven terrain, longer distances, or challenging conditions and may not be suitable for brand-new hikers.

Your responsibilities
By joining a hike, you agree that you are responsible for:

  • Choosing hikes that match your fitness level and experience.
  • Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions.
  • Bring enough water, food, and any personal medication you may need.
  • Carrying emergency contact information and informing the organisers of any relevant medical conditions or concerns that may affect your participation.
  • Arranging your own transport to and from the meeting point. Any car sharing or transport arrangements are private agreements between participants and are not organised or managed by the club.
  • Look after your own safety, belongings, and well-being throughout the hike.

Dogs
Dogs are welcome on selected hikes where the trail and conditions are suitable. If dogs are permitted:

  • They must remain on a leash at all times.
  • Owners are responsible for their dog’s behaviour, safety, and well-being.
  • Owners must clean up after their dogs and dispose of waste responsibly.
  • Please check the hike details before bringing your dog.

Weather and changes to hikes
Outdoor activities are affected by weather conditions. Hikes may be modified, postponed, relocated, or cancelled if conditions are considered unsafe or unsuitable, including extreme weather, heavy rain, storms, heat, flooding, or poor trail conditions.
The organisers will make decisions with participant safety as the priority. Please check event updates before travelling and come prepared for changing weather conditions.

Respect for others and the outdoors
We want the Late Risers Hiking Club to be a friendly and welcoming space for everyone. We ask all members to:

  • Be respectful, inclusive, and considerate towards fellow hikers, organisers, local communities, and other trail users.
  • Follow reasonable instructions from the hike coordinators.
  • Leave no trace—take all rubbish home and dispose of waste responsibly.
  • Respect nature, wildlife, and the places we visit.

Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. The organisers reserve the right to refuse participation or remove individuals from the group or a hike if their behaviour negatively affects the group.

Photos and social media
Photos may be taken during hikes and shared within the group or on social media to celebrate our adventures. Participation in photos is completely optional—please let the organisers know if you do not wish to be included.

Important safety disclaimer
Hiking involves inherent risks, including but not limited to uneven terrain, slips and falls, changing weather, physical exertion, and unexpected outdoor conditions. By participating in any Late Risers Hiking Club activity, you acknowledge these risks and accept responsibility for your own safety.
The Late Risers Hiking Club and its volunteer organisers are not professional guides and cannot accept responsibility for personal injury, loss, damage, or incidents that occur during or in connection with club activities. Participants should make their own informed decisions about whether a hike is suitable for them.

Our simple goal
Meet great people. Explore beautiful places. Enjoy the outdoors. Make memories. All without the painfully early alarm clock. We look forward to seeing you on the trail! 🥾
